How to Apply Online for India Post GDS Recruitment 2026 (Step-by-Step Guide)
1. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on Official Portal
Visit the official GDS portal at indiapost.gov.in/gdsonlineengagement. Click on “Candidate Login/Register” and select “New Candidate Registration”. Physical Document Verification & Pre-Engagement Formalities
15-Day Reporting Window for Physical Document Verification
Shortlisted candidates must report in person to the designated Divisional / Unit Head within strictly 15 calendar days from the date of shortlist release. Candidates failing to report within this timeframe will be marked as “Non-turned up” and their candidature shall stand permanently cancelled without further opportunity.
30-Day Pre-Engagement Formalities, Training & Joining Duty
Upon successful verification of original certificates, the selecting authority issues a system-generated provisional offer of engagement. Selected candidates are given 30 days to complete a mandatory 3-day basic induction training, arrange compliant Post Office premises (for Branch Postmaster), and execute prescribed security undertakings before formally assuming charge.
